TASTING NOTES
Our 2008 Califa Syrah is an impressive pairing of power and grace. The nose is
a lush medley of black plum, chocolate, vanilla and bacon with plenty of underlying black pepper spice.
Opening with plenty of supple black and blue berry fruit, the flavors follow through to the dense
mid-palate. Firm cool-climate tannins ensure this wine will have a place in your cellar for the next 8-10
years
The 2008 Califa Syrah is another exceptional cool-climate Syrah with a kick that only the Chamisal Vineyard can produce. Barrel selected from the best examples of our clones in the vineyard, this huge Syrah will only get better with time. The nose recognizes hints of Pasilla peppers and roasted espresso bean. Notes of pomegranate and dried cranberry shine through the firm tannins and acidity -- the two factors that enable this bottle to age gracefully for the next 8 years.
