THE VINEYARD
Our historic Chamisal Vineyard, the first planted in the Edna Valley in 1973, is nestled between the Santa Lucia Mountains and the cool Pacific Ocean on California's Central Coast. The long hang time promised by the site develops intense flavor in our grapes, the perfect start to distinctive wines that are flavorful and complex.
TASTING NOTES
The 2008 Morrito Pinot Noir is sourced from the little morro or Morrito on our property. The wine represents the unique terroir of this part of the vineyard, which has rocky calcareous soils and steep slopes. The nose surprised us at first, with delicious strawberries and cream, but then the Morrito shined through with hints of forest floor and candied orange peel. The palate mirrors the nose, starting off delicately and finishing full of cranberries and Chamisal Spice.
