2010 Estate Syrah - 93 pts by Antonio Galloni in July, 2013 edition of Vinous
“Chamisal's 2010 Syrah Estate is a big, bold authoritative wine. Black cherries, menthol, flowers, mint and violets all burst from the glass in a Syrah that is all about energy, length, focus and pure verve. The 2010 boasts gorgeous inner perfume and plenty of underlying structure in support of the fruit. In short, it is a magnificent wine loaded with class and personality.”
2010 Calfa Pinot Noir - 92 pts by Antonio Galloni in July, 2013 edition of Vinous
“The 2010 Pinot Noir Califa needs quite a bit of time in the glass to open up. Initially quite structured and powerful, the 2010 turns more polished as the tannins soften a bit over time, revealing gorgeous dark red/black fruit, floral and spice notes. This broad-shouldered, exotic Pinot is hugely appealing, not to mention beautifully balanced.”
Chamisal Vineyards 2009 Califa Syrah
Wine Advocate - August 2012 - 91 Points - The 2009 Syrah Califa is darker, richer and more powerful than the straight bottling. It also possesses greater varietal definition in its aromas and flavors. This is a decidedly rich, opulent Syrah with more than enough stuffing to drink nicely for a number of years. The Califa is a selection of the estate's four best barrels of Syrah. In 2009, it is a standout. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
Chamsial Vineyards 2009 Estate Syrah
Wine Advocate - August 2012 - 90 Points - Blackberry jam, sweet spices, savory herbs and black olives literally jump from this glass as the extroverted, full-bodied 2009 Syrah shows off its considerable personality. This is an especially deep Syrah endowed with serious concentration. The 2009 spent 22 months in French oak barrels (30% new), all of which it needed. This is a superb wine for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017.
Chamisal Vineyards 2010 Estate Pinot Noir
Wine Advocate - August 2012 - 90 Points - A pretty, gracious wine, the 2010 Pinot Noir shows the more elegant, feminine side of Pinot. Crushed flowers and red berries are some of the nuances that take shape in the glass. Despite its mid-weight personality, there is no shortage of depth in the aromas and flavors. This is a gorgeous wine. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
